Mathew Despins

I am a marketing specialist at SmartSites. My daily tasks include the research and execution of a variety of marketing strategies, including SEO, PPC, and Website design. My background in brand strategy, visual design, and account management informs my mindful but competitive approach. I am fueled by my passion for understanding the nuances of cross-cultural advertising.

I was born and raised in Lyon, France, and moved to Boston in 2017. I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science in Communication. From an early age, I was intrigued by the influence of advertising. My father, Arthur, worked for The Amaury Media group in France and would share the ideas behind specific ad campaigns. I started my career at 12 by winning an amateur advertising campaign for a local radio station in Lyon. 

I moved to Boston with my family and graduated from East Boston High School in 2017. I enrolled at Boston University and graduated in 2021. I am a ‘forever student,’ eager to build on my academic foundations in communication and sociology and stay in tune with the latest digital marketing strategies through continued coursework.

In January 2022, I embarked on a career journey at Smartsites, a leading global marketing firm. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and an unwavering commitment to transforming insights into impactful action, I have played a pivotal role in their continued success. I have spearheaded international campaigns for renowned brands, garnering prestigious accolades and solidifying Smartsites’ reputation for excellence. Furthermore, my implementation of strategic project management methodologies and dedication to fostering a healthy work-life balance have increased team productivity, further enhancing the company’s competitive edge.

Mindfulness at work is crucial to success. In my downtime, I enjoy yoga, meditation, and playing music. I currently live in Boston, Massachusetts, and am always up for a challenge.
